Types of export plums

Iranian export plum, a single-seeded fruit that has different species in terms of color, shape and size. Plums have a lot of nutritional value. This fruit can be eaten raw and used in all kinds of food. This fruit is grown more or less in different regions, which has different types such as Bukhara plum, yellow plum, red plum, plum, etc.

Plums and their related species are produced in different seasons, from mid-summer to early autumn, depending on the weather, and they have special varieties.

Plum cultivars

Plum Lombard:

It has large oval red or purple fruits. This group includes Lombard and Victoria.

Yellow Plum:

Large pale yellow or red lacquered plums are oval in shape and have a sweet taste.

Alo Shirou:

This yellow-green plum, with a slightly elongated round shape, likes small and sweet fruits.

Aloe Santarza:

The early-yielding plum has large, slightly elongated, purple to red-lacquered round fruits and amber flesh that is colored red near the skin.

Gold drop plum:

The fruit of this type is golden yellow and round in shape, slightly pointed and elongated.

Plum export

The cities of Neishabur and Targaba-Shandiz in Razavi Khorasan are the most important plum production areas in the country. This product earns more than 45 billion tomans annually for the farmers of Khoro region, which is the most important center of export plum production in the country. Khoro city is the capital of Iran’s plum export. Every year more than 1700 tons of dried plum products in this small town are exported to Pakistan, India and United Arab Emirates. Iran ranks 13th in plum exports.
