Peach

Peach is an export of various summer fruits native to China and South Asia. Its scientific name is Latin Prunus persica (meaning Iranian plum) and it grows in temperate regions of the world. The juicy fruit of the peach tree has a hard core, yellow or relatively white flesh, and a velvety skin. Based on the stickiness of the flesh to the core, this fruit is divided into two groups: separated core and sticky core.

Types of peaches produced in Iran

There are different types of peaches with different types and flavors. Among the different varieties of this fruit, we can mention Balkhi, Cardi, Saffron (which has two types of separate cores and sticky cores), Fig peaches, Hollandari peaches (which are very similar to apricots). Among the major producing provinces of peaches, we can mention Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari province, mainly the touristic and beautiful city of Saman, Alborz province, Shahr Karaj, Bai Kalai village of Neka city in Mazandaran province, Shandabad, Shabest city of East Azarbaijan province. The Balkhi peach, which is very large and sweet, has been greatly reduced in production, as it becomes stained and disfigured immediately after contact.

This peach has a spicy and acidic taste compared to white peaches. As with all peaches, you should look for yellow peaches that look heavy. To choose this fruit, choose a peach that has a good smell. This type of peach has all the signs of a ripe peach.

White peach

White peaches are sweeter than yellow peaches due to their low acidity. Also, they have a softer and tastier texture than yellow peaches. In terms of appearance, they are no different from other peaches. Considering that this type of peach is relatively rare and valuable, they are probably more expensive.

Hello Freestone

Peach Freestone does not stick to the core and can be removed by hand. These peaches are bigger and contain less water than Klingston peaches. The majority of peaches that are sold to customers at retail are of this type.

Hello Klingston

Clingstone peaches have flesh attached to the core. This type is softer, sweeter and juicier than Freestone peach. Due to these features, they are suitable for canning, storage and cooking. Commercial canned peaches are all Klingston.

About seven million tons of peaches are produced in the world every year, and Iran, with its production of 600,000 tons, has 8% of the production of this fruit in the world and has been ranked sixth in the world’s peach production. Among the different countries of the world, China is the first producer of peaches and Italy is the second producer of this fruit, followed by America, Greece, France, Iran, Turkey, Chile, Spain and Argentina.
